April High Five Winners

Kindergarten:  Will Cahoon

OAA Assembly

The third and fourth grade teachers performed at an OAA assembly for ZTES students on Tuesday afternoon to get them excited for the OAA tests.  Mr. Zeigler emceed a Mrs. OAA contest.  Each Mrs. OAA contestant was given an envelope with a student character to portray.  The students had to decide who had all the testing strategies correct.  Of course, each contestant concluded that they wanted "world peace" at the end of their presentation.  

Mrs. Downs was crowned Mrs. OAA as students clapped to vote to show who had had the correct answers about the strategies.

Author's Day and Literacy Night

Zane Trace Elementary welcomed author's Linda Stanek and Nancy Roe Pimm on March 20. Linda Stanek has written the book The Pig and MIss Prudence.  She presented to K-2 students showing them how books are created and also let them role play her book as she read it.  Nancy Roe Pimm is the author of Colo's Story. She showed how students how her nonfiction books were put together over time and explained that much research must take place in order to write a book.  The students also enjoyed a Columbus Zoo assembly in the high school gymnasium.  The penguin was the favorite of the many animals the zoo brought to show the students.  Facts were shared about all of the animals during the morning assembly.

Literacy Night was celebrated during the evening with Mrs. Congrove reading her favorite nonfiction book, Chameleons are Cool.  The students then went to many literacy centers with their parents to do activities.  It was a wonderful evening with almost 250 students in attendance with their parents!

Fairy Tale Week

Third Graders celebrated fairy tale week with dressing up as their favorite characters.  
Their teachers joined in on the fun as well!

Family Fun Night

Zane Trace Elementary: Family Fun Night was enjoyed by lots of Little Pioneers on April 11.  Bounce houses, games, and an auction were among the activities that evening.  This event was sponsored by the Parent Volunteer Group.
