Author's Day and Literacy Night

Zane Trace Elementary welcomed author's Linda Stanek and Nancy Roe Pimm on March 20. Linda Stanek has written the book The Pig and MIss Prudence. She presented to K-2 students showing them how books are created and also let them role play her book as she read it. Nancy Roe Pimm is the author of Colo's Story. She showed how students how her nonfiction books were put together over time and explained that much research must take place in order to write a book. The students also enjoyed a Columbus Zoo assembly in the high school gymnasium. The penguin was the favorite of the many animals the zoo brought to show the students. Facts were shared about all of the animals during the morning assembly.

Literacy Night was celebrated during the evening with Mrs. Congrove reading her favorite nonfiction book, Chameleons are Cool. The students then went to many literacy centers with their parents to do activities. It was a wonderful evening with almost 250 students in attendance with their parents!
